"Dear Planet Home Appliance Insurance"
 
   Have fairly old appliances (a/c, heater, etc.) and have had insurance for the past few years. I have never made a claim but they have raised the rates a bunch. So, do you have appliance insurance? If so, with whom and how much is it costing you? Or is it just a rip off?

I have a home warranty that covers the things you mentioned and my other "big" appliances. I had an a/c issue earlier this year and being a clueless single girl, had no idea where to start. So it's already been worth it for me. If you know what you're doing though, it might be something you can get rid of.

   I was with American Home Shield but they have raised my rates over $100 from last year. Could you let me know who you are insured with?

Turns out they don't insure Louisiana (WTF?) but I did find another company for 320.00 a year. American Home Shield wanted over 500.00.

I know you were just dying for the name of the place I've used:

They replaced the pump for my pool and we are plumbing idiots so they've come out about 3 times for different things (including me jamming the disposal by accidentally turning it on when a spoon was in there and activating a kill switch which I couldn't figure out how to turn off once the spoon was removed)
